AI will not cause widespread employment reductions.
AI will not cause a “humans vs. robots” world war in which humankind will be eliminated.
AI will not cause our most meaningful interactions to move from human-t0-human to human-to-machine.
Instead, AI will cause widespread employment growth. See why Ford and IBM are already re-hiring people displaced by the promise of AI technology.
Instead, AI will cause fewer humans to die in warfare. See how drones and other machines are changing warfare today and for the future.
Instead, AI will cause more value to be placed on all interactions “made or done by humans.”
Yes, there will be problems and challenges with AI. There will be hurdles and moats to cross with AI.
But, leaning too heavily into “the world as we know it is close to ending,” narratives is not only unhelpful today, it’s actually wrong for tomorrow.
Keep in mind, during the 1890’s the 50-year prediction was that urban transportation needs would cause city streets around the globe to be buried in over 9 feet of horse manure. Of course, in just a few years’ time, motorized transport changed that.
And, more recently during the Y2K crisis, the prediction was that critical infrastructure systems would shut down, financial institutions would fail, and, even, nuclear-weaponized missiles would be launched all because the January 1, 2000 date would be misread by computers the world over. Of course, programmers programmed computers to read dates correctly and the sun rose on 01/01/2000.
Because there are people who take advantage of fear as a potent attention-grabber for humans, overwhelmingly our future tends to turn out brighter than we are led to believe.
