- Identify a Progress Direction– Are we aiming to grow our number of donors? Is our goal to raise more dollars overall or for a specific priority? Is our objective to make our database more hygienic? What major progress will we make as a team?
- Affirm Metrics That Progress Evidence – What are the specific number of donors we will count to show we’ve made sufficient progress? How much money will we raise overall or for that specific priority? How many accurate records will we count to show our database is healthier? How will prove that we’ve been productive in ways that matter?
- Provide Support To Reach The Metrics – Do we need additional budget to implement a specific giving day to gain more donors? How might it help us raise more money if our gift officers were organized centrally, instead of dispersed? What human and financial resources need to be aligned in support of the metrics that we’ve affirmed?
To perform these 3 Cornerstone Roles effectively, a leader must be inclusive in planning, willing to make a decision, and consistently communicate what has been decided and why.
