An alternative take on Seth Godin’s recent post on problems and situations.
It’s easy to work on problems.
Especially if they appear without warning and seem urgent. We stop and look for solutions. We put out fires immediately.
It’s much more helpful, though, to have the discipline to ask whether an emergent problem is one that should be worked on or worked with.
When we work with a problem, we stop using time to look for a solution. Instead, we continue on as best we can. We live with it. We accommodate. We change course. We bend. We navigate around.
Far too often we throw our hands up and say, “We have a problem!”
When we should say, “Our circumstances have changed.”
