“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
I memorized that verse as a child in Sunday School but never paid much attention to the lead-in phrase: “For God so loved the world that he gave. . .”
It wasn’t until I joined the advancement community as a young professional that I read those words through a completely different lens and made the deep connection between the behavior of love and the act of giving.
During this season of holidays, we are all reminded of the significant and abiding role that giving plays in the human experience. When we selflessly and generously give, we offer the most transparent and authentic evidence of our love for others.
I’m beyond grateful to join with you each day in a vocation that calls us to enthusiastically spread that good news.
